95 terrorists, bandits killed, 61 arrested after aerial and artillery bombardment, according to DHQ

No less than 95 terrorists and bandits have been eliminated while 61 have been arrested by the Nigerian military in different theaters of operations in different parts of the North over the past two weeks.

This was revealed by the Director of Defense Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Musa Damadami during a press briefing held at Abuja Thursday, to brief the media on the army’s activities in the fight against the insurgency in the country.

Damadani said the successful operations were carried out by the combined troops of Operations Safe Haven, Hadarin Daji, Whirl Stroke, Restore Sanity and Whirl Punch, along with the air component of the Nigerian Air Force.

He said that “combined aerial and artillery bombardments by the military high command against criminal hideouts in the north-west and north-central region have killed 95 bandits and terrorists in the past two weeks, while 61 others have been killed. arrested”.

“During the reporting period, troops neutralized seven suspected criminals, arrested 40 others and rescued 28 civilians.

“In the North-West, the ground and air components of Operation Hadarin Daji continued their efforts to clear the joint operation area of ​​terrorism.

“In particular, on October 15, 2022, two notorious bandits responsible for a series of kidnappings and robberies as well as terrorist activities in Zamfara and parts of Katsina State in the past named Kabiru Mania and Abubakar and some infantry surrendered to their own troops in Shinkafi Local Government Area of ​​Zamfara State.

“On October 18, 2022, troops raided the camp of a notorious bandit leader in Gando Forest, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

: During the encounter, the troops engaged the bandits in a firefight, forcing the bandits to flee due to superior firepower.

“As a result, during the operations, the troops neutralized a total of 10 terrorists, arrested seven suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered two AK47 rifles, 10 special 7.62 mm cartridges, six motorcycles and a radio, while 32 civilians been rescued.

“Similarly, the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji continued its assault on terrorists in the North West region.

“As a result, an air interdiction operation was carried out on a terrorist enclave, Maudi Maudi, at Tsora Hill in Safana Local Government Area of ​​Katsina State on 11 October 2022; comments revealed that more than 14 terrorists were neutralized in the aerial bombardment while others survived the strike with injuries.

“Similarly, on October 14, 2022, following intelligence of the bandits’ plan to converge on the residence of a notorious bandit leader, Lawali Gudau, alias Dogo Damina, for a ceremony at Koli village, in the area of Maru Local Government of Zamfara State, Operation Hadarin Daji Air Component also carried out aerial bombardments on the terrorist leader’s enclave and neutralized more than 30 terrorists while destroying their amoury during the attack.

“Another airstrike led to the murder of a notorious terrorist leader known as Ali Dogo (alias Yellow) alongside 30 of his fighters as they had a meeting in an apartment building,” said General Damadani.
