Jennifer Price (31) started cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats on May 7 and rode through the Highland capital yesterday.

She raises money for the Veterans Foundation with the 1000 mile cycle, just part of her year of challenges.

Ms Price said: ‘From a physical point of view and looking at my cycling totals over the past few months, I am completely and utterly insane!

She wants to help the charity because she has seen many friends struggle with mental health after leaving the armed forces, which she was a part of for 10 years.

“It’s rare to go through life without experiencing some kind of personal trauma, whether on the battlefield or in your personal life,” Ms Price explained.

“I strongly believe that trauma shouldn’t define you, but can be harnessed to motivate you in infinitely positive ways, and it’s never too late to get back on track.”

Ms Price has already completed a 50km ski marathon, a 64km Jurassic Coast ultra marathon, a Paris marathon and the 125-mile Devizes to Westminster canoe race, which she said was a challenge.

She added: “I know I’m going to face more pain on the way to the end of these challenges, but I’m determined to see it through to support the Veterans Foundation and fund projects for veterans. facing mental health issues.

Every penny donated will go towards helping UK Armed Forces personnel in need and Major General David Shaw, Chief Executive and Founder of the Veterans Foundation, was delighted to see Jen’s success so far.

He said: “We wish Jen the best of luck in her remaining challenges – she’s done an amazing job already.”

Before reaching Inverness, she met 19-year-old Guy Gower, who is also cycling the huge distance.

He had a cardiac arrest last year and is raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
