Secured $155.50 Million Export Order for 155mm Artillery Guns: Bharat Forge

Bharat Forge Limited, based in Pune, announced on November 9 that it had won a $155.50 million export order for one of its 155mm artillery gun platforms to be performed in three years.

“We are pleased to announce that Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has received an export order for a 155mm artillery gun platform to be executed over a period of 3 years The total value of the order is $155.50 million,” the company told the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in a notification.

“This order, in a non-conflict zone, is a great testament to the Indian government’s AatmaNirbhar Bharat program and its sustained efforts to promote exports of locally designed, developed and manufactured (IDDM) advanced defense platforms since the ‘India,” the statement added.

Bharat Forge, which has diversified heavily into defense manufacturing over the past few years, has developed a product line including a range of artillery guns. Although it has sold 60 of its Kalyani-M4 armored vehicles to the Indian Army and another 30 on order, it has yet to secure a domestic order for its artillery guns.

At the recent DefExpo in Gujarat, artillery guns from Southeast Asia and Africa received a lot of attention. Company officials told the Expo that they had secured export orders for the Kalyani-M4 vehicles.
