The U.S. European Command (BPC) Partner Capacity Building Program funded munitions and radars with appropriations from Exercises 2018 and 2019. These deliveries further strengthen U.S.-Estonian defense cooperation while ensuring the interoperability among NATO Allies. The delivery of equipment to the Estonian Defense Forces is part of several ongoing BPC programs in Estonia. These programs are funded by the US Department of Defense and are designed to complement Estonia’s national efforts to build defensive capabilities. The United States has provided and continues to deliver more than $240 million in security assistance programs to Estonia funded between 2015 and 2020.

In 2021, US funding for security assistance to Estonia will include more than $50 million for integrated air and missile defense equipment and training; aircraft recovery and firefighting equipment and training; communication networks and radios; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment; and terrestrial maritime domain awareness systems. This funding includes more than $40 million from the U.S. Department of Defense’s BPC program and $10 million from the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Military Funding Program. The U.S. Department of State also provides $1.2 million in international military education and training funds annually for Estonian Defense Force students to attend U.S. military education courses.

The Defense Cooperation Office of the U.S. Embassy in Estonia works closely with the Estonian Ministry of Defense, Defense Forces, and Defense Investment Center to complement the significant investments of Estonia in the field of defence. The United States and Estonia jointly participate in multiple military-to-military exercises and engagements each year.
