WATCH: Ukrainian artillery unit destroys Russian ammunition depot in Kharkiv region

The Ukrainian artillery unit destroyed a Russian ammunition depot in the Kharkiv region, as reported on Monday, August 8.

Footage of the Ukrainian artillery unit destroying the Russian ammunition dump was shared on Twitter, with one user posting:
“⚡️ Ukrainian reconnaissance and artillery teams have destroyed Russian special forces soldiers and the ammunition depot in the northern Kharkiv region, reports the Eastern Operational-Territorial Command of the National Guard of Ukraine.”

Kharkiv Oblast is a region in eastern Ukraine. The oblast borders Russia to the north, Luhansk Oblast to the east, Donetsk Oblast to the southeast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to the southwest, Poltava Oblast to the west and the Sumy Oblast to the northwest.

The destruction of the Russian ammunition depot by the Ukrainian artillery unit follows videos of images of four of the Ukrainian M142 HIMARS firing at Russian targets, which began circulating on social media, as reported on Wednesday 3 august.

The footage was released after the US Pentagon and the Russian Defense Ministry sparred over claims that the Russian military had destroyed six HIMARS launchers and 200 missiles in Ukraine.

The Pentagon denied claims that the Ukrainian military had successfully received HIMARS from the United States and was using them effectively on the front lines.

HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a type of lightweight multiple rocket launcher developed in the late 20th century for the US military that is mounted on a standard US Army M1140 truck chassis.
